Gibbs & Olson received a 2003 Best in State Gold Award from the American Consulting Engineering Companies of Washington for the City of Woodland Wastewater Treatment Plant project. The City of Woodland involved Gibbs & Olson in the planning, design, and construction management of their new $6.5 million plant.

Gibbs & Olson met several design challenges on this interceptor project for the Beacon Hill Sewer District.

Since 1950, Gibbs & Olson has specialized in assisting public and private entities with all aspects of their wastewater collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal needs.  Our experience includes design of new systems and rehabilitation of existing ones.  We have experience in taking multi-million dollar wastewater projects from conception through design, construction, and start-up.  Specifically, our expertise and qualifications are as follows:

  • Planning documents (e.g., General Sewer Plans and Facility Plans, feasibility studies, pre-design reports, and general engineering studies).  See ‘Facilities Planning’ section
  • Wastewater treatment processes
  • Wastewater reuse/reclamation technologies
  • Assistance with compliance with federal and state wastewater discharge permit requirements and water quality standards for receiving waters
  • Collection and conveyance facilities, including gravity pipelines, lift stations, pump stations, and force mains
  • Inflow and infiltration (I/I) removal
  • Assistance, as needed, with the essential tasks associated with successful completion of a project (e.g., permits and approvals, public presentations).  Please see 'Related Services' section.

 

Qualifications
  • We have nine wastewater engineers on staff.  Together, they have 175 years of combined experience with 144 of those years at Gibbs & Olson
  • We have worked on projects involving 10 different wastewater treatment plants in recent years.  These projects have involved emergency repairs, minor to major improvements to existing plants, and planning, design, and construction management of brand new plants
  • Our staff has design and construction management experience on wastewater reuse projects which serve as models for others in the state.  Our staff is currently responsible for the City of Chehalisnew $30 million SBR and Class A Reclaimed Water Plant 
  • Our City of Woodland Wastewater Treatment Plant project received a 2003 Best in State Gold Award from the American Consulting Engineering Companies of Washington.  The plant has also received Excellence in Effluent Quality awards from the Department of Ecology  
  • A treatment plant designed and constructed for the Naselle Youth Camp in Pacific County has received multiple Excellence in Effluent Quality awards from the Department of Ecology (DOE) 
  • We have experience in working with discharge limitations imposed by Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) studies prepared by the Department of Ecology;  Gibbs & Olson conducted some of the first Water Effects Ratio (WER) studies in the State of Washington 
  • We are experts in the field of collection system rehabilitation and replacement having completed numerous wastewater collection projects 
  • Having completed numerous Western Washington infiltration/inflow projects within the past 20 years, we are recognized experts in the rehabilitation methodologies used for the reduction of infiltration and inflow during wet weather
  • Experience with both new and rehabilitated facilities
  • Experience in taking multi-million dollar wastewater projects from conception through design, construction, and start-up
