Expertise

  • Storm water assessments, evaluations, and studies, including Storm Water Management Master Plans and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans prepared according to regulations and guidelines published by the Environmental Protection Agency administered NPDES Storm Water Program
  • Modeling watersheds, drainage basins, and storm drainage infrastructure to predict water movement and its implications for flooding
  • Storm water discharge permit preparation
  • Design of storm water collection, detention, treatment, and conveyance systems
  • Essential tasks associated with successfully completing a project (e.g., provide information on alternative funding mechanisms to implement recommended capital improvements, long-term education, and a maintenance and operationsprogram).  Please see 'Adjunct Services' section

 

Qualifications

  • Six storm water drainage engineers on staff with a total of 90 years of experience between them; 64 at Gibbs & Olson 
  • Four engineers on staff experienced at performing hydrology and hydraulic analyses.  These engineers are experienced with the storm drainage, hydrologic and hydraulic software models ofStormCAD, PondPack, HEC-1, HEC-2, Stormshed, SWMM, and Hydrat performing hydrology and hydraulic analyses
  • Our storm water engineers have completed 32 storm water projects in the last 10 years where storm water was the only project component.  We have completed many additional storm water and drainage projects as part of larger, road, sewer, water and/or site development project
  • We have assisted with projects ranging from small pending problems, to storm system extensions, to system wide rehabilitation
  • Our engineers are familiar with both the Department of Ecology’s Puget Sound Water Quality Management Manual and the Storm Water Management Manual for Western Washington
  • Our engineers are familiar with Best Management Practices for control of storm water runoff and drainage facilities as outlined in the Department of Ecology's Storm Water Management Manual for Western Washington
