Main Street & US Route 12 Roundabout
Client—City of Elma, Washington
Currently in the design phase, this project will replace an existing stop-controlled intersection with a single-lane roundabout designed to WSDOT standards. The modifications will improve traffic operations, enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety, and reduce collision risks. Gibbs & Olson’s team provided the initial intersection evaluation, conceptual layout, and construction cost estimates. Subsequently hired for the design, our team is providing surveying, design phase, environmental, public involvement, and permitting services. In addition to a new roundabout, key improvements include sidewalks, bike lanes, curb and gutter, stormwater facilities, splitter islands with pedestrian crossings (including rapid flashing beacons), and new street lighting.
