Lake Scanewa Bathymetric Survey

Client—Lewis County PUD, Washington

Gibbs & Olson was hired to perform a bathymetric survey of Lake Scanewa. The survey included 4.75 miles of the Cowlitz River arm and 1.1 miles of the Cispus River arm of Lake Scanewa. Survey data was collected using a boat-mounted single-beam echo sounder with GPS receivers. All the field data collected was processed in-house to create a surface model with contours of the lake bed which was supplied to the District’s consultant to complete a hydraulic study. The study was used to determine the impact high river flows have on different sections of the river in the study area. The results of the study were used to design improvements to a day-use park on the lake.
