Plant Expansion
Client—Columbia River Carbonates, Woodland, Washington
Columbia River Carbonates (CRC) supplies high-grade ultra-fine ground calcium carbonate products throughout the northwestern United States and western Canada. Gibbs & Olson’s services included surveying and site, utility, roadway and stormwater design as well as permitting support for CRC’s plant expansion. The East Plant expansion included a hopper, a conveyor belt and tunnel system, a stone stockpile enclosure, and two roadway embankments constructed using mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining walls leading up to the hopper. The West Plant expansion included a mill building, a pelletizing plant and office building, several silos, a hopper, a conveyor belt and tunnel system, a large stockpile enclosure, and roadway embankment supported by two MSE retaining walls. The improvements also included design and accommodations for future expansion.
