Gibbs & Olson will provide the City with an Alignment Analysis Report that will evaluate up to three alternatives. The recommended alternative may require securing private entitlements, permitting through WSDOT and structural and geotechnical engineering services. The existing 1,800-foot-long 16-inch transmission main consists of cast iron, steel, and possibly asbestos cement piping. Portions of the existing pipeline route are located on steep, unstable slopes. Additionally, a portion of the main crosses under Interstate 5 (I-5) and is encased within a 24-inch reinforced concrete pipe.
