Gibbs & Olson was awarded the City of Longview water transmission pipeline evaluation project. The project includes evaluating two potential 36-inch diameter pipeline routes from the City’s water treatment plant to the main reservoir to determine the most feasible and cost-effective pipeline route. The goal of the new pipeline is to improve water quality and provide more reliable services within the water system without increasing water pressure in the distribution system during periods of high water demand. The evaluation includes identifying any required easements or property acquisitions, geotechnical considerations, environmental issues, and existing utilities. Additionally, planning level cost estimates will be summarized in the evaluation. Costs for parallel 24-inch pipelines will also be compared to the cost of a single 36-inch pipeline. A technical memorandum will be prepared to summarize the information and findings and identify the preferred alternative.
